Add products and options
Choose quantity, weight, variants, and add-ons and check the price customers actually order.
Define products using the unit your business sells. A meal sold by portion, produce sold by weight, and a shirt with size options need different customer choices.
Choose a product type
| Type | Use it for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | A count of identical units | Three meals at a per-meal price |
| Weight | A measured quantity | Produce priced per kilogram |
| Variant | A product with choices | A meal in Regular or Large |
| Nested variant | Two levels of options | Size and flavor combinations |
| Modifier | An extra connected to a product | An additional side or topping |
The available controls depend on the product type and the editor route you use.
Add a product
Use Add product in the editor. In the product wizard, enter the name and choose whether it is sold by quantity or weight. For quantity products, select whether sizes or variants are needed. Continue to the product settings and enter the price.
For the simpler menu editor, review the product card's Price and quantity or option controls. Use its settings for additional details, or switch to the WYSIWYG editor when you need that editing mode.
Configure variants and prices
Add each customer-facing variant label. Use Variant price when options cost different amounts; review the default product price for options without a separate price. Where multiple-variant selection is enabled, check whether a customer can order several variants in the same order.
For weight products, state the unit clearly in the title or description. A price per kilogram and a price for a fixed 500 g pack should not be presented as the same choice.
Add product details
Use a recognizable image and an accurate description. Include ingredients, allergens, or nutritional details only when they reflect your actual product. Review how the chosen layout displays the description.
Verify the customer selection
Open Preview, choose each option, and check its price and quantity in the cart or summary. Test an add-on with its parent product. Continue with totals and availability.
The Neartail quantity-product guide and variant guide cover the product wizard.
