Search and social previews

Make your business pages understandable in search results and when customers share website links.

Clear business and product information helps people recognize your website when they discover or share it. Website pages can supply titles, descriptions, and preview images from the site's business and page content.

Write useful page information

Use the actual business name, an accurate description, and product names customers recognize. Include service or location information where it helps customers decide whether the business serves them. Avoid repeating a list of keywords in every heading.

For product pages, explain the item, portion or size, available choices, and price basis. A visitor should understand what the page offers before opening the order form.

  1. Save the website or page changes.
  2. Open the public URL in a separate browser session.
  3. Confirm the browser page title and visible page content identify the correct business and offer.
  4. Review the image and description when preparing a social post or message.

Some services cache link previews. A previously shared URL may continue to show older information for a while after the website changes. Check the public page itself before assuming the edit failed.

Share a website link for browsing the business, a product link for a specific item, and a form link when customers should immediately place an order. If you rotate a weekly menu, update the link destination or keep the linked form current.

Search engines decide whether and how to display a page. Publishing a page or changing its description does not guarantee a ranking or a particular search-result preview.
